Fungus and plants regularly spawn behind walls and obstacles
It is quite common to have fungus blooms and plants partially behind walls/out of bounds, so that pieces stick through the walls and you can see them but can't clean them. This isn't a huge problem because it's not really about 100%ing a level, but it's still annoying to see bits and bobs hanging around that you should have cleaned off.

zomffinI noticed with the flame fuel that these out of bounds fungus could be lit on fire but can't be destroyed, leaving long lasting bits of fire around. The fire would eventually destroy them but it takes a second.

kliqIMBAdding a comment here that I /did/ have pieces in two different areas of Gerald's level where the only way I was able to cleanse was to throw the exploding canisters at the walls and hope. I was stuck on 99% for quite a while prior to attempting this. One area was the Transport Area (fungus was below the grate walkway), the other was the Maintenance Tunnel (no idea where the fungus was, it seemed like there were 3 pieces because the percentage went up 33%->67%->100% but I just threw a couple of canisters randomly at the walls.
